Band Boosters

“My daughter Hadley is a rising sophomore and plays clarinet. We also have an older daughter, Maren, who graduated from MCHS, and a rising 6th grader who is so excited to join the band at Clark-Moores with Mrs. Worrell! My husband is Garett, and you’ll also see him around helping with web design, running concessions at EKU, and jumping in wherever he’s need.

I was a member of color guard at Tates Creek High School (c/o 97) and knew that marching band would give my kids some amazing lifelong lessons about hard work, teamwork, accountability, and foster a love of the arts. Hadley was resistant to joining at first- but by the end of the first day of band camp last year, she was hooked! All these years later, hearing the band practice on a fall evening just gives me chills — ESPECIALLY this band!

This is my first year serving the band and while I definitely have some ‘imposter syndrome’ (surely there is someone more qualified than me to help lead?!) – I am here to help in any way I can so these kids can succeed. I feel so fortunate to be part of THIS band family and have my kid learn under THESE directors. I am so so excited to see what this season bring, and am looking forward to meeting some new faces, as well as hanging out with familiar ones cheering the kids on.

The most important advice I can give new band families is to get involved in any way you can – even if it doesn’t feel like much. These kids are so thankful for you to show up, donate snacks, help serve, push props, or just cheer LOUDLY at competitions! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. If I can’t answer them, I’ll find someone who can! It takes a village and a whole lot of time and effort to run a band this size, and I’m so honored to be helping lead this village!
