My daughter Hadley is a rising junior and plays clarinet. We also have an older daughter, Maren, who graduated from MCHS, and a rising 6th grader who is so excited to join the band at Clark-Moores with Mrs. Worrell! My husband is Garett, and you’ll also see him around helping with web design, running concessions at EKU, and jumping in wherever he’s needed.

I was a member of color guard at Tates Creek High School (c/o 97) and knew that marching band would give my kids some amazing lifelong lessons about hard work, teamwork, accountability, and foster a love of the arts. Hadley was resistant to joining at first- but by the end of the first day of band camp last year, she was hooked! All these years later, hearing the band practice on a fall evening just gives me chills — ESPECIALLY this band!

This is my first year serving the band and while I definitely have some ‘imposter syndrome’ (surely there is someone more qualified than me to help lead?!) – I am here to help in any way I can so these kids can succeed. I feel so fortunate to be part of THIS band family and have my kid learn under THESE directors. I am so so excited to see what this season bring, and am looking forward to meeting some new faces, as well as hanging out with familiar ones cheering the kids on.

The most important advice I can give new band families is to get involved in any way you can – even if it doesn’t feel like much. These kids are so thankful for you to show up, donate snacks, help serve, push props, or just cheer LOUDLY at competitions! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. If I can’t answer them, I’ll find someone who can! It takes a village and a whole lot of time and effort to run a band this size, and I’m so honored to be helping lead this village!

Hello! My name is Jessica Smith and I am the Band Booster Vice President. I am a U.S. Army Veteran and I currently work as the Safety Monitor for Madison Central. This will be my 7th consecutive year as a band parent. My oldest son, Tyler, is a trumpet player. He started in 2019 and graduated in 2023. Tyler will be starting his 3rd year in the aviation program at EKU. My son Lincoln, started marching last year. He is also a trumpet player and will be a junior this year. My daughter, Shaylee, is in the color guard, which she started as a 7th grader in 2023. She will be a freshman this year.

We are all looking forward to another amazing marching band season and I’m so excited to get this started! If you have any questions or concerns, I am nearly always available!

Hi. My name is Michelle Stubbs. This will be my first year on the band side of things, but my second year involved. Harley was in color guard last year as a senior. My son, Logan, is an incoming 8th grader. He is a tuba player. I also have a 7 year old daughter, Myah. She is my sidekick helper at all things band!

I have loved becoming part of the Madison Central band family so much that I took a position as Secretary in the Band Boosters. This will be my first year. I encourage everyone to volunteer! There are so many opportunities and we can work around many different schedules. There really is something for everyone and it is all important.

In my free time, I love spending time crafting, doing various sewing projects, getting outside in nature, gardening, and when I can, take a nap!

Melissa Herman

Hello! My name is Melissa Herman and I am your Band Booster Treasurer. My daughter Brooklyn is a junior and a member of the guard. In addition to Brooklyn, I have an 8 year old named Bo. If I am not surrounded by amazing band kids you will find me on the baseball field supporting my boy.

I was a guard kid myself at Tates Creek High school (back in the old days). To be able to watch my daughter share an activity of mine, but on a level I could never dream of, is really one of my greatest joys!

This will be my 2nd season as treasurer and like all the other amazing boosters, we do this for the love we have for these kids. Our goal is to leave this band family better than we found it.
