I am originally from Winchester, KY, where I did 4 years of high school color guard at GRC, and following, 4 years of EKU Color Guard as part of the Marching Colonels.  I am a proud alumnus of Lexis Winter/World Guard where I marched from 2011-2019, making Independent World Finals, and medaling in Independent A and Independent Open multiple times.  I also had the opportunity to march in Music City Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013, and Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2015.  I have had the privilege of not only teaching in several high schools in the state of KY but was also the EKU Color Guard Instructor from 2015 until 2023 where I helped grow the program from about 8 members to nearly 25 each year, and part of the staff for Lexis World Guard in 2020.  

When I am not at MC, I work as an Occupational Therapist at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington where I have been for 5 years, leading trainings in the hospital, and for which I received my Master’s Degree.  I met my husband, Lucas Black, in EKU’s Marching Band, and although he also teaches the Marching Band as part of the Brass and Visual Staff, he is the Madison Middle School Choir Director, and has assisted in teaching the middle school band.  We enjoy camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends, and have two cat fur babies. 

I am blessed to have been at Madison Central teaching the Color Guard alongside many talented individuals since 2017, and I am incredibly excited to see the continued growth in not only the members as performers and young people, but also the growth of the program.
