EKU Concessions

Thinking about Volunteering?

Wondering where to go, what to wear, or how long it takes? We’ve got the details! We work every home football and basketball game (yes, the women’s games too!). We’re paid a flat fee for each game and the total sum we earn is by far the largest fundraiser for the band! It’s vital we fill the slots for each game to maintain our contract and we can’t do it without you!

What do I wear?

Preferably MCHS Band shirts, but EKU shirts are OK

NO other sports teams allowed (I know, I have UK shirts too)

NO open toed shoes, slides or sandals

Shorts must be at least thigh length

Hair longer than shoulder length must be in a ponytail or braid (per KY Health Code)

Where do I go?

We meet at the top of the ramp in front of the stadium.

As you approach the box office, you’ll see ramps on either side. Someone will meet you in the shade next to the stadium at the top of these ramps.

If anyone stops you, just tell them you’re working concessions.

How long is my shift?

We meet 2 hours before kick- or tip-off to prepare for the game.

6pm kick-off? We start at 4pm.

How long will I be there? It depends! Concessions on the Visitors’ side (usually) closes after Halftime. More stations close during the 3rd Quarter. The last station closes five minutes into the 4th Quarter. It really depends on where you’re assigned.

The last people are usually out before 9pm for football games. Basketball games are shorter, but we’re usually out before the final whistle.

NOTE: These are estimates. Football games can be subject to rain delays, extending the time we’re working.

What will I be doing?

There’s essentially 3 main jobs: Cashiers, Order Takers, and Preppers.

Cashiers: You’ll be running a register, entering orders and taking payments. Aramark prefers parent volunteers for this role, when possible. (Don’t worry, the registers are very easy to run!)

Order Takers: You’ll take the customers’ order and pull the food. You’ll make nachos, grab burgers and hotdogs, pour fountain drinks, etc. At football games, you interact directly with the customer, but at basketball games, orders come through the cashier.

Preppers/Runners: You’ll prep the food in advance of orders. You’ll wrap burgers and hot dogs, box popcorn, or heat and salt pretzels. You’ll also ensure stations are stocked with these items.

No worries! We contract out these days to other MCHS groups. This year we have three competitions on EKU Game Days. The MCHS Dance Team and Project Grad will fill in for us on these days so we can ALL be there to support our kids!

Yes! we have stations that close after halftime. If you can commit to staying that long, please sign up! Just tell your the coordinator that you have a time constraint and they’ll place you in a station that ensures you will leave early.

Things come up! We understand! If you have to cancel, please inform the coordinator and let them know as soon as possible. The best way to contact them is through the Band app. Click on the Chat icon in the app, select Private Chat Room, and search for Garett Harper. Let him know that you can’t make it and he’ll find a replacement.

Wherever you can! Most of the closest parking will be crawling with tailgaters, but you can usually find something on the far end near Alumni Coliseum. You can also park across the bypass along Vickers (in front of the firehouse) or down Sue & Roy Kidd Way. See the highlighted areas below.

How do I signup?

There’s two things you must do to volunteer:

Aramark requires all volunteers to have a Background Check. Submit the requested information in the form below and Aramark will have a check conducted. Once you complete this form, you’re good to volunteer.

And finally, sign up for a shift!

Thank you for volunteering! We’ll see you on game day!
